Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

Q: What is the difference between a Nutritionist and a Registered Dietitian?
A: All dietitians are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are dietitians. In Wisconsin there is no licensure to become a “nutritionist” so anyone may call themselves a “nutritionist!”  Beware of unlicensed practitioners claiming to be a nutritionist and providing nutrition education.

A Registered Dietitian is/has:

  • Credentialed, nationally recognized food and nutrition expert
  • Completed a minimum of a bachelor’s degree at an accredited college or university
  • Completed an accredited supervised practice program (internship) gaining over 1000 hours of professional experience.
  • Passed a national board exam administered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
  • Knowledge and education is kept up-to-date with required continuing education

Q: Do you accept insurance?
A: Some insurance companies do reimburse for nutrition services and wellness counseling.  It is your responsibility to check with your insurance provider or review your insurance policy. Lifestyle Nutrition will NOT file directly with your insurance company. An invoice will be given after payment and can be submitted to your insurance for reimbursement.  Payment is expected in full day of service. Check or cash only.

Q: What methods of payment do you take?
A: Cash and/or check are the only forms of payment taken and is collected day of service.

Q: What if I can’t make it to your office?
A: I prefer that all appointments are done in person however after your initial appointment we can chat over the phone, Skype, Facetime or through email.  This is not a guarantee with every client.  Arrangements are made and discussed on a per client basis.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
A: Cancellations are required at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment.  If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment please do so by email or phone.  Emergencies may be exempt, at the discretion of the dietitan.  You will be charged and billed 50% of the full appointment for missed or canceled appointments within 24 hours.
